Felony Charges in Atlanta

Get Felony Charges Reduced to the Misdemeanor Level

Felonies are the most serious category of crime you can be charged with. As a result, the penalties for a felony conviction are much more severe than those of a misdemeanor. If you are convicted of a felony, you may be facing a year or more in prison, more expensive fines, and restitution in addition to:

  • Extensive community service
  • Loss of your right to vote
  • Loss of your right to bear arms
  • Loss of eligibility for financial aid
And even more. If you have a criminal record, even if your prior offense was a misdemeanor, then the likelihood that the prosecution will make subsequent charges at the felony level increases. However, for certain crimes, if you are considered a first-time offender then you can be charged at either the misdemeanor or felony level. These types of crimes are sometimes called “wobblers.”

If you are considered a first-time offender and have been charged with a wobbler at the felony level, we may be able to get felony charges reduced to the misdemeanor level. While misdemeanors do carry significant penalties, they are less severe than the consequences of a felony. Additionally, prosecutors may be more vigorous in the pursuit of felony charges. If the charges can be reduced to a misdemeanor level, then more creative solutions may be possible.

An Appropriate Flat Fee to Cover Your Defense from Start to Finish

Unfortunately, it is not always possible to have felony charges reduced. Whether that is an option depends the crime you have been charged with. In the state of Georgia, felonies include a variety of crimes;

  • Child molestation
  • Drug possession
  • Robbery, burglary, and theft
  • Sex crimes, including sex offender registry removal
  • Violent crimes
  • White collar crimes, such as identity theft, forgery, and violations of the RICO act
